Microwave Plasma Chemical
Synthesis Machine
Winner of the:
- 1998 R&D 100 Award.
- 1999 DESIGN NEWS
Award.

Materials Modification Inc. has developed and
patented a novel nanopowder production technique. This process is
the result of several years of research in the area of powder
synthesis.
Microwave
Plasma Chemical
Synthesis (MPCS)
utilizes microwave energy to generate a plasma by
ionizing the gases. The resulting high temperature vaporizes the
precursors which facilitates initiating and sustaining the
chemical reactions at molecular levels in the presence of
microwaves. These vapors are then rapidly quenched resulting in
the formation of nanopowders.
The advantages of this technique are:
- Narrow particle size distribution
- High purity
- Can handle various kinds of
precursors-powders, gases and liquids
- Capable of producing metallic, ceramic
and alloy powders
- Highly energy efficient
- Scaleable - presently 1 to 10 Kg per day
Typical
powders that are custom made and available for sale includes:
- Iron
- Cobalt
- Nickel
- Molybdenum
- Copper
|
- Aluminum
Nitride
- Tungsten
- Yttrium Oxide
- Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ)
- Zirconia
|
- Alumina
- Iron Oxide (Fe2O3)
- Silicon Carbide

Prices vary from $1/gm to $5/gm depending on the material and
the quantity. We can also deposit nanopowders
on ceramic substrates.
In addition to producing nanopowders, the Plasma Chemical Processing Equipment
is available for licensing any where in the world.
